About Us

What’s Thriving Otara?

We are also known by our acronym, TOI, which in te reo means ‘summit’, ‘point’ or ‘tip’ – as indicated in our logo.

We think the name says it all: Thriving Otara is a resident-led community group of people and organisations who want to support and enable positive change so that everyone in Otara is thriving. We are also known by our acronym, TOI, which in te reo means ‘summit’, ‘point’ or ‘tip’ – as indicated in our logo.

What does ‘thriving’ mean? The dictionary says it includes being prosperous, growing, flourishing, being successful. The voices of those living and serving in Ōtara need to be heard, and a collective voice helps to ensure that we are getting what our community needs to thrive. Come to our community hui in February or March to share your views about what it means for Otara now that we are, hopefully, moving beyond lockdowns.

Celebrate success

Congratulations

An important aspect of being a thriving community is for people and groups to achieve what they want to do. We hear too much in the news about negative things happening in Otara; so we’d like to invite shout-outs about example of success in our community. Please make sure you have permission to share the information publicly before sending it to us.
